A Fast Reference of Signage Types
Here is a brief list of signage types. Please bookmark this page for future reference
Pole sign – A Freestanding sign with a pole as the primary support.
Monument Sign – A low elevation ground mounted sign.
Mobile sign – A lightweight, portable sign designed for easy mobility.
Message Center Sign – An electronic sign designed for remote updating. This type of sign can be integrated with other signage types.
Marquee Sign – A type of permanent sign structure that is typically constructed from metal and glass. This signage type typically incorporates a message center.
Channel Letter Sign – A dimensional signage type with an individual structure for each letter. Channel letters can be front lit, reverse lit, open faced or front and back lit.
High Rise sign – A freestanding sign with high elevation. Typically a pole sign.
Directory sign – A wayfinding sign that identifies the tenants or services present in a building and their respective locations.
Directional sign – A wayfinding sign for pedestrian or vehicle traffic.
Canopy sign – Another building-mounted outdoor signage type. Similar to an awning sign.
Cabinet sign – A box type sign with either one face or two faces. Internally illuminated.
Billboard sign -A larger sign format designed to be read from a distance.
Awning sign – A building-mounted sign that uses the awning surface area for signage.
Animated sign – An electronic sign that depicts motion, graphics and/or action.
