Why Should I Buy a UL Listed Sign?

Love Channel Letter Sign With Moss in it

Why should I buy a UL listed sign? You know the Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) listing must have some value, given how common it is in the marketplace. But what exactly is a UL listing and why should my customer’s channel letter sign have it? The Business Dictionary definition for UL is “The world’s largest product safety testing and certification organization with global name recognition and acceptance.” A UL listed product means that UL has tested representative samples of the product and determined that it meets their safety requirements for both construction and electrical standards. Kind of like the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, but UL does not “approve” products. It only lists them. That listing, however, can be very valuable for your business. It means you are selling a product that has met the safety standards of an independent testing firm that accepts no government or business donations. That safety level can be an important selling point. You should always place the UL logo on your sales proposals. It shows that you care enough about the safety of your signage customers to sell a UL listed product. Here is an interesting side note – this listing is important enough that the UL listing label is sometimes counterfeited. Some unscrupulous producers have been placing counterfeit labels on their products, including signage. So look for the UL listing from your company’s channel letter vendor (Direct Sign Wholesale sells a UL listed product.) That listing increases the probability that your customer receives a safe and problem-free electrical sign.
